Obituary For Nellie A. Roth

Nellie A. Roth, 97 of Rapid City, SD went home to the Lord, Friday July20, 2007 , while living at a Rapid City nursing home. Nellie was born April 2, 1910, in St. Helena, Nebraska to Joseph Edward & Ida Mae Liston. In 1913 her family moved to Clough, SD where she stayed until she married George Gottlieb Roth. George and Nellie were married on November 13, 1928 in New Underwood, SD. They lived and farmed in Haydraw, SD, until 1934 when they moved to Whitewood, SD. In 1943 George and Nellie moved to Rapid City. Nellie devoted her life to her family as she spent most of her years nurturing, and mentoring her children and grandchildren. Nellie enjoyed working in her beautiful vegetable garden, and baking wonderful breads and cookies. She loved playing cards and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.Nellie is survived by sons, Cole & Roebetta Roth of Rapid City, SD; Jacob & Judy Roth of Rapid City, SD; Alfred & Rosemary Roth of Sturgis, SD; daughters, Nora May Roth, Rapid City, SD; and Norma & Nick Simon of Atkinson, IL, twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great- grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Cedelia Anderson of Wellborn, FL, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents Ed and Mae Liston, sisters, Goldie Oliver and Pearl Williamson, and brothers, Melvin, Sylvester, and Wilbur Liston, and one granddaughter, Coleen Roth.
