Neva I Stumer, 90, Rapid City died Tuesday Aug 14, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born March 16, 1922 in Doland, SD to Edwin and Anna (Salzbrenner) Bretschneider. She came with her family to Rapid City at a young age. During this time, she enjoyed riding horses. She attended school and graduated from Rapid City High School and then attended 2 years of business college. Neva married Dale W. Stumer on August 18, 1953 in Rapid City. She worked as a secretary at Ellsworth AFB. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was active as secretary of the LWML. She was also a member of the Altar Guild and Dorcas Circle. She raised African Violets which she sold at various Rapid City stores. Neva is survived by her son, Rodney Stumer; her daughter Carryn Longhenry, both of Rapid City; 3 grandchildren, Krystol (Scott) Frerking; Christopher (Amanda) Longhenry and Rebecca Longhenry and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dale W. Stumer, Oct 26, 1996 and her sister Alice Kieffer.
