Obituary For Norine M. McKinstry

Norine M. McKinstry, 87, Rapid City, died Sunday March 13, 2011 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born in Cresco, IA on April 13, 1923; the daughter of Charles and Myrtle (Stevens) Fagner. She graduated from Cresco High School in 1940. After graduation she was employed by the US Government as a secretary with the US Signal Corps at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Following WWII, she moved to South Dakota where she married her high school sweetheart, James R. McKinstry. She spent the next 65 years being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and avid baseball fan. Norine was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Woman’s Association. She is survived by two sons, Jim A. (Suzanne) McKinstry, Rapid City; Rob (Linda) McKinstry, Sergeant Bluff, IA; two daughters, Linda McKinstry and Nita (Ron) Eikenberry, all of Rapid City; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ora Mae Sommer, Forest City, IA, and Charlene Knutson, Cresco, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, her parents, and one brother, Dale.
