Obituary For Philander T. 'Pete' Malone

Philander Thomas ‘Pete’ Malone, 81, Rapid City died Wednesday May 20, 2009 at his residence. He was born Oct. 20, 1927 in Gainesville, TX to Thomas and Carrie (Smith) Malone. He grew up in the Gainesville area, moving to Rapid City in his late teens. Pete married Darlene Jelkin, Feb. 15, 1948 in Rapid City. He worked for Control Data, (now SCI) as the building maintenance person. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles and Moose Lodges. He enjoyed Boating, fishing, hunting, hot air ballooning and horses. Pete is survived by his daughter, Shelley Fleming; sons, Warren and Todd Malone all of Rapid City; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 nieces, Vicki Bailey and Pauline Bevan and nephew, Paul Raymond, all of Gainesville. He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene, son, Richard; daughter Judy and his sister, Stella Raymond.
