Obituary For Phyllis Schiefer

Phyllis Schiefer, 78, Hot Springs, died Saturday March 10, 2007 of natural causes at her residence. Phyllis was born Sept 29, 1928 in Dalzall, SD to Paul and Claire (Snyder) Marvin.She later moved to Salem, OR where she met and married Alexander McPherson. To this union were 2 sons, Lex Paul and Al James McPherson. They were divorced in 1963. Phyllis and her sons returned to Rochford, SD where she later met and married Rudy Schiefer. After Rudy’s death in 1976, she moved to Hot Springs. For 33 years, she worked as a fire tower lookout for several different areas including Rankin Ridge at Wind Cave National Park until its closure. Phyllis was an active member of the Rochford Fire Dept.; SD Search & Rescue and later worked for the Hot Springs Ambulance. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with family, extended family and friends. Phyllis is survived by 2 sons, Lex Paul McPherson, Lead; Al James and wife Joyce McPherson, Hot Springs; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 12 step-children; 1 brother, Darrel Marvin, Idaho and several extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Rudy; her parents; 2 sisters, Terry Rae Marvin; Paula Marvin and 1 brother, Durwood Marvin. People who knew Phyllis know her heart was full of kindness. She was always willing to help her community, friends and neighbors. She touched more people’s hearts than she ever knew.
