Obituary For Pun Crown

Pun Sun (Soon Nah) Crown, 64, passed away October 2, 2016 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born on March 11, 1954, in Hapcheon, South Korea to Kang, Chong Yong and Kim, Nam Sil.She was married to CW3(R) Gary Crown in January 1977, in Seoul, South Korea. Pun received her high school diploma, and became a naturalized US citizen in 1980. Soon after came the birth of her first child Barbara. During these years she worked for the US Government commissaries at Camp Casey, and Camp House in South Korea, receiving multiple accolades and awards for service to the military families she worked with. After leaving South Korea moving to Ft. Benning Georgia for a duty station change, her second child, Brian was born. After the family’s final duty station change to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii she became a dedicated mother to her children’s growth through their early years. Upon her children reaching their adult ages she continued to follow her passion of having her own business, and re-visiting her personal passions, such as gardening, cooking, sewing, and many other arts and crafts. In 2002 she won a difficult battle with colon cancer, and had a renewed vigor in the new life she had regained. In 2011 she moved to Rapid City, South Dakota to be closer to family. During these few remaining years she spent most of her time between working at Rapid City Regional Hospital, her passion for many of the arts, her love of her South Korean heritage, along with continuing to be a loving mother to her children and grandson. She is survived by her mother Kim Nam Sil; her sister Kang Chom Ak; her husband Gary Crown; her daughter Barbara (George) Grant; grandson Asher Grant; her son Brian Crown; step-sons Darryl , Doug and David Crown. She is preceded in death by her father; and Sister Kang, Pun Ak
