Obituary For Ramona Cain

Mona Cain, 73, Box Elder, died Monday, April 8, 2013Ramona V. Cain was born on 22 September 1939 in St James, NE. When she was in 4th grade, she moved to Akron, Iowa and attended Akron Public school, graduating in May of 1956. After graduation from high school, Mona worked for Woodbury Co. Savings Bank in Sioux City, Iowa, as a bookkeeper. She married the love of her life, Larry E. Cain of Hawarden, Iowa on 7 June 1958 at the First Methodist Church in Akron, Iowa. Together they embarked on a wonderful adventure to places neither of them believed they would ever see: England, Louisiana, Nebraska, Alaska, Alabama and finally South Dakota.While living in Nebraska at Offutt AFB and in Alaska at Eielson AFB, Mona worked as a Red Cross Volunteer, giving graciously of her time and efforts to help others. After moving to South Dakota, in 1976, she began a career in Civil Service, working as an Accounting Technician at the Ellsworth AFB Hospital/Medical Clinic for 24 years. She was a universally-loved and highly-dedicated worker and received numerous awards for her service.Mona was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the TREA Auxiliary, and enjoyed spending time with her husband Larry at both. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, and she looked great in all kinds of hats.The biggest pleasures in Mona’s life were her kids, her grandkids and her great grandkids. She was never too busy to share all the news of their activities and accomplishments. She was a beautiful woman whose trademark laugh could bring a smile to the glum and spread cheer in viral fashion.Mona Cain was preceded in death by her husband, CMSgt (Retired) Larry E. Cain, and her parents Harry and Gwelda Rosenbaum. She is survived by her children Rhonda Baker of Box Elder, Colonel Gregory M. Cain and his wife Julie, of Moscow, ID and Karen McIntyre of Kenosha, Wisconsin; grandchildren Christopher and Nicole Baker, Alexandra and Molly McIntyre, Taylor, Bailey and Benjamin Cain; and great grandchildren Brooke Hanson, Avery Baker, and Lilyanna McIntyre-Onslow.Undying, unconditional love for her family; devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother right to the very end. She gave and gave and gave, right up until her very last breath…
