Obituary For Rebecca Gowan

Rebecca Ellen Trygstad Gowan passed away in Laurel, Maryland on Monday, November 24, 2008. . Rebecca moved to Rapid City when she was 10 years old. She lived with her parents, Hilda and Dan Trygstad and five brothers, John, R.D., Roy, Vern and Ken. When speaking of her childhood in Rapid, she often recalled her love for her brothers, involvement in music, a “radio show”, and playing the base violin. After graduation, she married Captain Unite L. Brodin, U.S.A.A.F. Unfortunately, he was killed in W.W.II, but he always remained near to her heart. After the war, Rebecca moved to California. She met and married William Robert Gowan and together they raised their daughter, Daralee Ruth. “Becky and Bob” were married for over 50 years, lived in Beverly Hills and San Marino, California for approximately 40 years followed by 10 years in Omaha, Nebraska. During that time, Rebecca used her incredible organizational skills as an executive secretary and office manager for medical offices. Her favorite position was as the coordinator of fundraising for a nonprofit hospital. In addition to her work, Rebecca will be most remembered for her lovely gift of hospitality. She enjoyed having friends and family in her home, laughed easily and made others feel welcome. Rebecca is survived by her daughter and son in law, Daralee and Les Baker, granddaughter Ruthie and husband Josh Bailey, grandson Joseph Baker and wife Amy, and brothers/sister in laws R.D. and Alice Trygstad, Roy and Char Trygstad, Ken and Joan Trygstad, and sister in law Jan Trygstad.
