Obituary For Richard Lee Cooper, Sr.

Richard L. Cooper, 74, Rapid City, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at his home.Richard was born January 28, 1939 in Noble IL. to Raymond and Lenora Cooper.He served in the US Army from 1959 until retiring in 1979 as First SGT. He had 2 tours in Korea and Germany. He was also stationed at several cities throughout the United States.After retirement he worked for Pennington County Housing Authority for 17 years and he also worked at Bear Country for 8 years.He served as president of neighborhood watch for several years, worked with the police graffiti tasked force and volunteered for the Pennington County Sheriff dept.Richard loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. His most enjoyable time was spent training his Brittany’s for hunting. He also enjoyed going to The Weight Room for good conversation and exercise.Survivors’ include his wife Delores of Rapid City; his sister Sandra Mitchell of Champaign, Illinois; 2 sons Richard Jr(Chantelle) of Anchorage, Alaska, David of Rapid City and daughter Cynthia of Yankton; sister in law Dottie Cooper of Brush Colorado; 4 grandchildren, Adam, Hannah, Carson, Caden and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Cooper, step father Donald Padgett, mother Lenora Padgett and brother, Ronald Cooper.
