On Friday, June 11, 2010, Robert Allen ‘Bob’ Knopf, 67, Rapid City, died while working on an outdoor project at home.Born October 8, 1942 in Waubay, SD to Elmer and Gladys (Ness) Knopf, Bob was baptized and confirmed in Watertown. He was a man of great faith.Bob was educated in the Summit, SD School district and continued his education as a student of life. His journey was enriched through his marriage to Marlene Dahl on February 14, 1961. They celebrated 49 years of marriage this year.A gifted carpenter and talent of many trades, Bob was known to take on the mightiest of projects and displaying his German heritage through phenomenal strength and perseverance until the job was done.As a loving and supportive family man, Bob shared his wisdom and gifts freely, often for the benefit of his family. He especially loved each of his grandchildren, ever the prayer warrior and encourager.Bob had a passion for hunting, sharing that time with his son, Joel, son in laws, brother and friends. He was always on the lookout for that trophy buck.Bob was employed in the trucking industry retiring after 32 years of safe and admirable service.Losing our husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother in law and friend with the twinkling blue eyes and easy smile has pierced our hearts, but not our souls. We will await our heavenly reunion.Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene; daughter, Janie (Mark) Thomas; daughter, Jody (Del) Gust; son, Joel (Renae Sallquist) Knopf; daughter, Jenny (Aaron) Bauman. Bob also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Tory (husband Mike), Kelsie, Briana, Alexander, Landon, Joclyn, Zachary, Krisa, Sydney, Raegan, Carlie, Addy, Jaydyn, Anna and Zofie. In addition, Bob leaves behind brothers, sisters and a large extended family.He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and several nieces and nephews.
