Obituary For Robert "Bob" Gould Roy

Robert “Bob” Gould Roy died peacefully on August 24, 2026. Mass of Christian burial at St Mary’s church in Lemmon SD on September 28, 2026 at 10:30 am, and internment at the Black Hills National Cemetery will be announced.

Bob was born to Wilfred Francis, Sr. and Betty Clara (Hairston) Roy in Dequeen, Arkansas, on September 27, 1946. He grew up and attended grade school in Atlanta, Georgia, before his family moved to Texarkana, Texas, where he graduated high school. Bob went on to achieve a degree in Engineering from Georgia Tech in Atlanta before proudly enlisting in the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War from April 1970 through March 1971 and was honored to be awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star medals.

Bob married Milli in 1971 and had his first son, Todd, from that union. Bob began his professional career with a position at the Coca Cola Corporate office, where he was proud to help bring Coke to China and South Africa. In 1979, Bob married Cindy and they had three children: Jason, Katie, and Michael. He continued to work for notable companies like Tropicana and the Florida Citrus Board before opening his own business consulting firm, which brought him to Lemmon, SD. He married Kim Miller in 2005.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed spending time outside taking rides on his lawn mower and maintaining his yard. He loved and valued spending quality time with his grandchildren. He also had a soft heart for the many dogs and cats that filled his home throughout his life, particularly his favorite dog, Dixie. Bob was tech savvy and loved traveling the world for both business and pleasure. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) organization.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Miller Roy (Lemmon, SD); his children: Robert Todd (Lauren) Roy, Jason Roy, Katie (Zachary) Gilmore, and Michael Roy; and his grandchildren: Gibson and Oliver Roy, Madison and Mackenzie Roy, and Kaitlyn and Karter Gilmore.
