Robert Leroy Dell, age 59, passed away on 4/5/2026 in Matthews, North Carolina.

He was born on April 22nd, 1966 in Rapid City. Over the course of his life, he formed meaningful connections and left a lasting impression on those around him.

He spent much of his life working with his hands—as a carpenter, kitchen manager, and handyman—taking pride in the value of hard work and the ability to build, fix, and provide in tangible ways.

He formed meaningful bonds and friendships with many in Rapid City and Matthews, and those connections were an important part of his life. He loved his dog. When he could, he appreciated a slower, quieter pace of life.

He had a goofy spirit and was often the life of the party, bringing laughter and lightness wherever he went. He had a natural ability to cheer people up and was someone others turned to when life felt heavy or overwhelming.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Dell, and father, Richard Dell.

He is survived by his son, Adam Dell; his daughter, Ashly Dell; his former spouse, Twila Dell; and his grandson, Michael “Kayyo” Dell. His relationship with his children, like many, was complex, but included moments of reliability and presence, especially in showing up for important milestones like school events and graduations.

We are grateful that in the later years of his life, he found a sense of community and meaningful connection. He will be remembered with understanding and with the hope that he has found peace.

A viewing will be held on April 16th, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Behrens Wilson Funeral Home, with services on April 17th, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
