Obituary For Robert Lewis Vaughn

Robert (Bob) Lewis Vaughn, 82, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Hospice House of Rapid City following a battle with cancer. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Roberta (Wintrode) Vaughn; his son, Todd Vaughn and his wife, Pam Vaughn; his daughter, Adele Gibbs, and her husband, Charles Gibbs; three grandchildren, Anna Vaughn, Monty Vaughn, and Ashley Gibbs; two great grandchildren, Marc Bohling and Ari Johnson; one brother, Eugene Vaughn, and his wife Lady Vaughn, as well as many friends and his beloved goats. Born December 26, 1933 in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, the son of Marion and Gladys (Anderson) Vaughn, he was a lifelong resident of South Dakota. In his early years, Bob worked as a ranch hand and in the forest and logging industry. He then proudly drove semi truck for over forty-four years: a demanding career that provided him the opportunity to see almost every one of the fifty states. In his leisure time, Bob appreciated being at home with his family and animals. He also enjoyed auctions, pawn shops, and sharing morning coffee with his friends. From the countless people who benefited from his loads, to the regular, roadside-service calls he answered to save a stranded granddaughter, Bob Vaughn dedicated his life to helping people, making our lives a little easier and better. We will miss him.
