Obituary For Robert Patrick Whitehead

Robert Patrick Whitehead, 40, of Rapid City, passed away on Tuesday June 16, 2015 in Zion, Illinois at the Cancer Treatment Center of America; after a courageous and hard fought battle with metastatic colon cancer.Rob was born February 02, 1975 to Charles D Whitehead and Cheryl D Lindgren (Galbreth) in Breckenridge, MN. Rob was born again in 2008, when he gave an old man a ride in his truck in the middle of the night, who shared the love of Jesus with him, Rob’s salvation was assured from that night on. Rob had the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met. Everything he did, be it right or wrong in someone else’s eyes, was what he felt would benefit those he loved most. Rob would go to the end of the earth to help anyone. His family and friends were his life. Rob was so easy going by nature and led his life by being positive and seeing life as a gift and adventure, rolling with whatever came next. Rob loved being outdoors, hunting, shooting guns, and archery. Riding horse and working cattle were a passion. Rob will always be known as a roper, who passed that love on. Rob was a truck driver at heart. That was instilled in him from his Grandpa Bob and Dad Denny. He loved trucks; mechanic work, driving, and seeing the country from behind the wheel. Working hard was not optional for Rob. That is how he lived, expected and taught his children. Everyone who met Rob remembers his quick wit and one liners. Usually he was on his second or third one liner before you even knew he slipped you one or pulled one over on you. Humor was a staple in his life. Rob married Lyndsey R Kursave on April 17, 2010. As Rob often said, third times a charm. As much as we wished we had had more years together, we always agreed that all we went through before, made us truly appreciate the love we had. Rob was an amazing Daddy and husband. Rob had a deep and Godly love for all of his children, Kayden, Trenton, Bree, Dray, Gracen, and Braylen. He is survived by his adoring wife, Lyndsey R Whitehead; his children, Kayden, Trenton, Bree, Dray, Gracen and Braylen; his parents, Denny and Jean Whitehead and Steve and Cheryl (Charlie) Lindgren; siblings, Maria Tegman, Lacey (Kerry) Slaba, Seth Lindgren; uncles, Guy and Bruce Whitehead, and William (Colleen) Galbreth; also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Rob was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert (Bob) and Ida Whitehead, CG (Pat) and Selma Galbreth; uncles, Edward Whitehead and Tom Galbreth; aunt, Sally Jo Neff (Whitehead).
