Obituary For Robert William Polk

Robert William Polk Jr, 73, of Rapid City, South Dakota passed away on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, in Sioux Falls after an extended illness. Bob was born on Christmas Day, 1950 in Athens, GA to Robert William Polk Sr. and Margaret Anne (Maxwell) Polk.

Bob married his next-door neighbor, Stella Winona Bell, on Aug. 8, 1971, in Atlanta, Georgia. They enjoyed over 40 years of marriage before Stella’s passing in 2012. Bob served in the United States Air Force for 24 years. The couple were stationed at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota, Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina, and Plattsburgh AFB in New York before Bob retired as a Master Sergeant to the Rapid City area to be closer to their happy place – the Black Hills. After some dabbling career wise, Bob spent nearly 30 years working for the local ASI call center.

Bob is survived by his son, Robert W. Polk III of Box Elder, SD; his daughter Jennifer Millard and grandson Jareth Millard of Rapid City, SD; his brothers Larry E. Polk and Robert G. Polk, both of Georgia; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Polk; his parents Robert & Margret Polk; and his brothers James E. Polk and John D. Polk.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorials be made in Bob’s name to the Veteran’s Organizations listed or another you deem worthy.
