Robert William Trueblood Sr.
Sunrise: May 29, 1950, Igloo, SD
Sunset: April 6, 2026, Pine Ridge, SD

We celebrate the life of Robert Trueblood Sr., who made his journey to be with the Creator on April 6, 2026.

Robert was born on May 29, 1950. Many people knew him as “Bone Shirt” in his earlier years, and more recently, he was known as “Rob.” He enjoyed his morning walks, often taking in the quiet of the day as the sun came up. Robert will be remembered for the simple life he lived and the legacy of love and family he leaves behind.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Norma Pourier-Trueblood; his father, Jess Lloyd Trueblood; his daughter, Jessica; his brother, Jesse; and his sisters, Donna, Gail, Lynn, Geraldine, Karen, and his sister-in-law, Fawn.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Thelma Siers; his children, Lynn, Robert Jr. “Bonez,” Tessa, Kevin “Lil Bonez” (Tarah), and Jamie; his siblings, Jolene (Delane), Efrem “Zig”; his special nieces Leslie, Virginia, and Darla.

Robert leaves behind his grandchildren: Jazmine (Trevor), Lisa, Samantha (Ryan), Robert III, Brooke (Henry), Jesse, Jacob (Kellie), Kota, Brandi, Chad, Lorenco (Alexzandra), Manuel (Gracelyn), Tierra, Audriana, Jayden, Trentin, Ariana, Samuel, Kara, Liam, Skyler, and Charlene. Great-grandchildren: Adrian, Landyn, Payden, Rozin, Wanda, Kensley, Ava, Robert IV, Jourdi, Clara, Eleanor, and Leonard.

Robert is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Our family would also like to recognize that throughout Robert’s life, he had many friends. In our Lakota way, a friend is more than someone you know; a Kola is a brother, a relative of the heart. We want to express our deep gratitude to all who stood beside Robert as his Kola throughout his life. Thank you for your visits, friendship, and presence, as it meant so much to him. There are too many names to list, but you know who you are.

Due to the circumstances of his passing, the family has chosen to cremate Robert. At a later date, TBD, we will honor him and lay his ashes to rest.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 14th, at Sacred Heart Church. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation and refreshments from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a Catholic service to follow at 1:00 p.m. A meal will be shared after the service, with fellowship continuing until 4:30 p.m.
