Obituary For Ronald Keith Muir

Ronald Keith Muir, 68, passed away at Monument Hospital, Rapid City, SD on January 24, 2026, surrounded by family. The third of four boys, he was born in Kirkland, Washington on April 3, 1957 to Merle and Ann Muir. Growing up, Ron attended Robbinsdale Elementary, South Jr High and graduated from Central High School in 1975.

As a young man he had the need for speed and raced motocross which he was very good at. Ron had a very sharp eye and was active in the Rapid City Trap Club, even serving as their Director for a short period of time. Ron loved to hunt and went whenever he could. The hunt of his life was when he went to Alaska and shot a bear. Ron had no children and was never married but loved his nieces and nephews and would stop by their house whenever driving by just to see what they were up to. They loved seeing him and commented on how funny he was.

Ron was a member of the West River 8 Ball League and played with his father and brothers.

Ron was a welder and did it with precision. Ron worked for many companies, but his last employment was with Cenex Propane, where he had many friends.

Ron is survived by his brothers Rick (Robin) Muir, of Rapid City and Rory (Kim) Muir, of Hermosa, SD. His nieces and nephews Jessie Muir, of Rapid City, Brittany (Jordan) Johnson, of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Travis Muir, Chadron, NE, Kortney Muir, Sheridan, WY, Shadd (Nadine) Hoffman, AZ, Brittnee (Nathan) Watts, of AR, Nick Muir, Tim Muir, Dani (Cameron) Steen all of Rapid City, one Uncle Les Muir of Rapid City. Ron is preceded in death by his parents Merle and Ann Muir, his brother Randy Muir, grandparents and numerous Aunts and Uncles.

A Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
