Obituary For Russ Harris
Russ Harris passed away peacefully on Wed. Feb 3rd at the Ft. Meade VA Hospice in Sturgis. He was born July 9th 1936 in Mankato Minn. To Merle and Veronica Bunker(Harris) He is survived by his brother Neal Harris (Sue) a son Paul ( Tracy) a daughter Natalie ( Scott) and 7 grandchildren. Russ went to school in Arlington S.D. and then Conde, S.D. He entered the navy after graduation and then went on to manage a BF Goodrich tire store in California. He spent most of his later years in Hill City. He especially enjoyed spending time with his son Paul wife Tracy grandsons Travis and Clint and his daughter Natalie husband Scott and granddaughter Kate. He enjoyed all family/friends phone calls and visits. Russ was a friend to many and was eager to lend an ear or help others in any way he could. He was a very smart, witty, and funny man all the way to the end. He was proceeded in death by his mother Veronica Bunker( Harris ) his dad Merle Harris a sister Audrey Dahl Chapman his first wife and mother of his children Rose Marie Harris (Dirksen) a son Joe Harris his second wife Sherrie Harris. A special thanks to the folks at the VA Hospice in Sturgis especially Dorothy who knew all the right things to say and do. And to a fellow VA resident Don who sat with dad and held his hand when I was unable. Your thoughtfulness and compassion meant so much to us.
