Obituary For Sarah 'Marie' Gorsuch

Sarah ‘Marie’ Gorsuch, 85, Rapid City and formerly of Fairburn, died Thursday Aug. 7th at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born June 5, 1923 to Gilbert and Aleta (Scott) Overlin, on her parents’ ranch. She attended Fairburn High School and graduated from Buffalo Gap High School Sarah married Marvin Gorsuch July 23, 1940 in Rapid City and they later moved to the ranch she remained on until 2001. She moved from the ranch to Landover Estates in Custer and then to her daughter’s home in Rapid City in 2006. Sarah enjoyed competing in the local fairs, displaying her embroidery and sewing. She loved spending time with her family; gardening, canning, raising chickens and cooking. She was an active member of the Fairburn United Methodist Church and the Fairburn Community. She is survived by her 2 sons, Floyd Gorsuch, Grand Junction, CO; Clyde Gorsuch, Fairburn; her daughter Connie Gorsuch, Rapid City; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; her brother, Edgar Overlin, Eugene, OR; and 2 sisters, Lela Gorsuch, Wheatland, WY and Beryl Myhill, Homer, AK. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Gorsuch, April 30, 1993; grandson Nathan Gorsuch, July 1993 and 4 brothers, James, Darrel, Elbert and Gilbert Jr.
