Obituary For Shawn Dewey Johnson
Shawn Dewey Johnson, 47, passed away Thursday, February 16th, 2012 in Odessa, Texas. He was born in Rapid City, South Dakota April 30th, 1964, and moved with his family to Hot Springs, South Dakota in 1971. He attended school in Hot Springs where is was active in football, wrestling, and band. He graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1982. Following graduation, he pursued a career as a heavy equipment operator. His occupation took him to Rapid City and places in Wyoming before he moved to the Phoenix, Arizona area where he met Tonya Martchenke. They were married in July, 1996. Kyle Henry (14) and Shawna Lee (12) were born to this union. They were the light of his life. Recently, he was employed in Odessa, Texas in the oil fields.Shawn was blessed with many friends. He was proud to be a member of the Western South Dakota Buckaroos for the past 25 years. He was an avid fan of country music, car racing, especially NASCAR and rodeos. He especially enjoyed attending races and rodeos with his children. He delighted in meeting performers of the above, and purchasing their memorabilia. Shawn is survived by his wife, Tonya, and children, Kyle and Shawna, his mother-in-law, M.J. Anderson and husband, Sammy of Lompoc, California, and his father-in-law David Martchenke of Santa Barbara, California, his parents, John H. and Carla J. Johnson of Hot Springs, SD, his brother, Ross A. Johnson and wife Tonya, nephew Trevor, and niece Tiffany of Rapid City, SD., and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George L. and Leota Dewey, his paternal grandparents, Edwin and Gladys Johnson, his uncles, G. Darrell Dewey, Francis, Russell, and Raymond Johnson, and uncle Bill Deering and his wife, Marguerite (Johnson) Deering.
