Obituary For Shawn V. Caekaert

Shawn Vernon Caekaert of Rapid City, SD passed away on April 18th 2024 in Rapid City, SD.

Shawn was born in Rapid City, SD to Ed and May Caekaert on April 21, 1971. He went to school at Centauras High School in Lafayette, CO. He worked as a Journeyman Plumber for 30 years. Shawn was a kind man that would hand out gloves and beanies during the winter months to the homeless population, sometimes you could catch Shawn even buying pizza for them.

Shawn always said, “that he was living his life the way he wants and not the way people think he should.”

Shawn Caekaert is survived by his beloved friend and companion of 8 years Krista Freytag: 2 brothers Chino Caekaert of Rapid City, SD and Thain Caekaert of Englewood, CO and 3 sisters Alanna Turnbaugh of Rapid City, SD, Tina Caekaert of Denver, CO and Tanya Stockham of Brighton, CO: 4 nephews and 3 nieces. Shawn is preceded in death by both parents Ed and May Caekaert and 1 brother Chalon Caekaert and 1 nephew Randall Turnbaugh.
