Obituary For Shirley (Dye) Neelen

Shirley Waneta (Dye) Neelen, 82, Rapid City, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Clarkson Mt. View Health Care Facility, Rapid City.Shirley was born May 18, 1926 in Rapid City to George Ernest and Winnifred Marie (Smith) Bolton. She was raised in Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1944. She later received a teaching certificate from the college in Yankton and taught at the Potato Butte School. She married Robert Emmett Dye on June 3, 1949. They ranched Northeast of Alzada for many years. She was an active member in the Order of Eastern Star, a 4-H leader and belonged to many of the Women’s Clubs in the area. Shirley also served as secretary of the school district for over 20 years and recently was a member of the Rapid Valley United Methodist Church. She was a family oriented person and also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.Robert died on November 1, 1986 and she later married Ed Neelen in March of 1993.She is survived by her children, David Dye, Casper, WY, Anne Marie and husband David Yates, Cottonwood, AZ, Juanita Jo and husband Duane Gominsky, DeGraff, MN, Robert Emmett ‘Chip’ Dye, Jr. and wife Drusilla, Alzada, MT, Ward Dye and wife Sharon, Rapid City, James Anthony Dye and wife Lisa, Corinth, CA; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, a grandson, Wade Schnabel, her parents and a brother, Eugene Bolton.
