Obituary For Tami Beth Quinn
Tami Beth Quinn (Nelson), 54, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away on March 16, 2026 in her hometown.
Tami was born on September 25, 1971, in Rapid City to James (JR) and Virginia (Ginnie) Nelson. She completed the family as the youngest sibling, adored by her brother Lester and sister Teresa. She spent her life rooted in the community she loved, surrounded by family and lifelong friends.
Tami was a dedicated and hardworking woman who spent many years working in a dental lab, eventually achieving her dream of owning the lab alongside her best friend and soul sister, Polly. She took great pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout her career.
Tami was married to her soulmate, Jerry, until his passing in 2018. They first met when they were younger and later reconnected, building the life together they were always meant to share. Although it was cut short, their bond remained one of the most meaningful parts of Tami’s life.
Tami was known for her big smile and even bigger hugs. She was truly a light in every room she entered and was always ready for a good time. Whether at the lake or surrounded by friends and family on her back deck, she brought laughter, warmth, and an unforgettable energy wherever she went. Above all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother whose family meant everything to her.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Laci (Cory) Fruit, Justine (Bryn) McKay, Tanner Fode, and Jayden Quinn, as well as Chad Schroeder, whom she loved as a son. She was a proud grandmother to Micah and Nolan Fruit, Jax and Jovey McKay, and RaeLee Onken. She is also survived by her brother, Les (Glenda) Nelson and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.
Tami was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her beloved mother, Ginnie; her sister, Teresa; her dear friend, Butchie; her father, JR; and many other cherished friends and loved ones.
Tami will be remembered for her big heart, her infectious spirit, and the love she gave so freely. Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the countless lives she touched.
A celebration of life will be held this summer when the weather is warm and fit for a backyard party. Details to come at a later date.
