Obituary For Timothy Rust

Our beloved Father, Timothy John Rust of Omaha, NE, left us suddenly on July 16, 2016. He died in our arms on the evening of his 63rd birthday. It had been the most perfect day for him; fishing and picnicking in the hills with his family. Tim was born on July 16, 1953 to James H. Rust and Mary Frances Rust (Courtney) in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he was raised with his siblings Renee Davis (Rust), Jerry Rust, and Joseph Rust. He graduated from high school in 1972 and became an eagle scout. Shortly after graduating from high school he moved to Rapid City and worked construction, helping to build the Rushmore Mall, Civic Center, Central High School, and the upper floors of Regional Hospital. He made many wonderful lifelong friends in the Black Hills and met the mother of his children, Echo Rust (Hauff). Tim and Echo were married in April of 1980, and soon after moved to Tucson, AZ where they lived happily for many years and had two children, Thomas James Rust and Tyler Jacob Rust. Tim later lived and worked in Yankton, SD for a few years and then moved to Omaha, NE where he worked at Double Eagle Collateral Services until he was diagnosed with lung cancer and began treatment. He later moved to Gillette, WY to be in the loving, exceptional care of his sister Renee. Tim always had an optimistic outlook on life, even when faced with stage 4 lung cancer. He had a kind, generous heart and a great sense of humor. We carry countless, wonderful memories of him fishing, camping, working on cars, traveling, and snagging paddlefish at Gavins Point Dam. Left to mourn his loss are his mother Mary Frances Rust, Gillette WY; sister Renee Davis (Rust), Gillette, WY; brother Jerry Rust, Portland, OR; Echo Rust, Rapid City, SD; granddaughter Tiana Rust, SD; his two loving sons, Thomas James Rust and Tyler Jacob Rust, Rapid City, SD; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father James Rust, twin brother Thomas Rust, and brother Joseph Rust. Rest in peace Dad, we will always love and miss you.
