Obituary For Todd Harlend Guffey
Todd Harlend Guffey was born July 13, 1964, to M. Dwight & Pauline (Kammerer) Guffey, in Rapid City, SD. He passed away Friday June 19th, 2015 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Todd attended Pinedale Elementary, West Middle School, and graduated from Stevens High School. Todd started his adult life by getting his CDL and going into the trucking business and operating large equipment on various jobs, including reclamation work on the Florida Everglades. In the late 80’s an opportunity to purchase and operate a farm in Meade County came along, so he returned home and formed G & W Farms with David Wilson. In addition to tending his own operation, he also contracted his farming services out to others. He did this until selling in the late 90’s and moving to Hawaii with the intent to take the profits and start a Kona Coffee farm. During this operation he attended trade school and learned his true calling and desire, and that was landscaping and plant husbandry. He worked in that capacity while in Hawaii for a large hotelier until selling his land to his good friend and returning home to the Black Hills in November of 2003. Since his return home, he worked various jobs, but mostly was working landscaping and construction until his passing. Todd was passionate about several interests including the outdoors, hunting and fishing, Nascar Racing, slot-car racing, the Rams, and his beloved dog Ex-el. Todd is survived by his mother Pauline, his brother Brett, sister Diane (Guffey) Byrd, brother & sister in law Scott & Jamie, nieces Ashley (Byrd) Aaron & Jesse (Byrd) Johnson, niece & nephew Harper & Hayden Guffey, his paternal Uncle & Aunt Clark & Joan Guffey, his maternal Aunt Shirley Kammerer, and several cousins. Todd was preceded in death by his father M Dwight Guffey, his paternal grandparents Dr Harlend & Myrtle (Brown) Guffey, and maternal grandparents J. F. (Fritz) & Kathryn (McNenny) Kammerer.
