Obituary For Vera Eby

Vera Margaret Frank-Eby, 98, Rapid City passed away unexpectedly on October 28, 2008. Her husband, Kenneth, preceded her in death in 1988. Vera was born on November 1, 1909, in Herrick, South Dakota, to parents Katherine and Carl Frank. She was the oldest of six children. On November 11, 1934, she married Kenneth Clyde Eby in Winner, South Dakota. She had three children who survive her, Kenneth, Carol, and Janice. Her brother, Robert Frank of Lincoln, Nebraska and sister Alma Frank of Denver, Colorado, also survive her. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews. Before she married Ken, she worked at the hotel in Herrick. She also worked at the Gregory County Courthouse in Burke. After they relocated in Rapid City, Vera worked at the Western Food Market. For a time, Vera was in charge of alterations to the clothing at the Thrift Shop, a dress shop. Vera was a homemaker for many years in Rapid City. She often played cards and bingo, and enjoyed embroidering, crocheting and various crafts. She was a member of United Commercial Travelers. She also belonged to Royal Neighbors of America for which she served as recorder from 1970-2005. Her friends and family greatly appreciated her apple pies and cinnamon rolls. She was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed by all.
