Obituary For Virginia Ann Merriman-Moffit
Virginia Ann Merriman-Moffit, 68, Rapid City, died Saturday Oct. 15, 2011 at home. She was born April 20, 1943 in Kadoka, SD to Alvin A. and Elizabeth (Getz) Long; and she attended Kadoka High School. Virginia married Harvey G. Merriman on May 27, 1962 in Kadoka. He preceded her in death. She later married Marvin G. Moffit on June 28, 1986 in Rapid City and he also preceded her in death. Virginia worked at Rapid City Regional Hospital for numerous years retiring in 2007. She enjoyed working with children and joined the Foster Grandparent program at Horace Mann Elementary School. Virginia is survived by 2 daughters, Patricia Christianson (Rodney Carson), Rapid City; Debby (Ed) Swaney, Cheyenne, WY; one grandson, Chris (Amber) Christianson, Rapid City and her brother Richard Long, Rapid City. She is preceded in death by her first husband Harvey G. Merriman, May 1980; her second husband Marvin G. Moffit, Dec. 11, 1988 and her parents. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011 at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Baum officiating. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
