Obituary For Virginia D. Back

Virginia ‘Ginny’ Darlene Back passed from this earthly world into eternal peace on April 18, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson ’s disease. Ginny was born March 14, 1939 in Rapid City to Leonard and Alice (Trusty) Winkler. She attended school in Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1957. Ginny married her high school sweetheart Charles ‘Skip’ Ray Back on June 12, 1957 in Rapid City. Ginny’s employment career started as a carhop at the J&L Drive-In when she was in high school. After raising her children Ginny worked for Positive Parent Network, St. Elizabeth Seaton School as a cafeteria worker and in the kitchen for the Meals-on-Wheels Program. Ginny was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. She and Skip loved to square dance and ballroom dance. They danced with several clubs in the area. Ginny’s greatest joy came from her family; especially her grandchildren. Their lives and the lives of all her family will forever be richer for having her in it. Many wonderful memories will be shared by them for many years to come. Ginny is survived by one son, Ronald and Jodee Back, Rapid City; two daughters, Karen Back, Rapid City; Lesta Bryce, Lafayette, CO; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one sister, Lella and Calvin Zenahlik, Summerset; one brother, Steve Winkler, Rapid City; three aunts, Evelyn Winkler and Inez Trusty, Rapid City; Doris Grabowski, Lannon, WI and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Skip, a daughter, Kimberly Diane Back and her parents, Leonard and Alice Winkler. Ginny’s broken earthly body is now free from pain, free from disease and she once again has a healthy body and spirit.
