Obituary For Wayne D. 'Bear' Wagenaar

Wayne Douglas ‘Bear’ Wagenaar, 64, Rapid City, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Fountain Springs Healthcare Center. He was born October 29, 1946 in Volga to Noel and Ruth Alvina (Mannerud) Wagenaar. He grew up and attended school in Bruce graduating from Bruce High School in 1964. He then attended a year and a half at SDSU. Wayne worked for a short time at the forest service before entering the US Navy on October 16, 1968. He was honorably discharged on September 3, 1970 after serving during the Vietnam War. He worked at various places as a diesel mechanic. His latest employment was with Pennington County where he worked until April 2005. He also tended bar at Robbinsdale Lounge for many years. He married Dixie TeBeest on July 27, 1990 in Rapid City.Wayne coached girls softball for many years, was a member of American Legion Post 22, the Forty and Eight and Rushmore VFW Post 1273. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed golfing. He is survived by his wife Dixie, children, Lisa Rowcliffe, Ryan (Tina) Rowcliffe, JR Rowcliffe all of Rapid City, Cpt. Andy (Jen) Rowcliffe, Charleston, SC; 5 grandchildren, Jeremy, Curryn, Kierya, Isabella, Kael; a brother, David (Judy) Wagenaar, Rapid City; a niece, Vicky(Tony) Litzinger, Douglas, WY and 2 grandnephews, Tad and Jared. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
