Obituary For Wilbert Steinwandt

Mr. Wilbert (“Bill”) Steinwandt went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, after a brief illness. He was born September 21, 1926, in Ashley, ND, to William and Emma (Zimmerman) Steinwandt. He married his beloved Norma (Fischer) on July 16, 1950. Three months later, Bill was called to service in the Army, returning from Korea in August 1952. In 1954, Bill and Norma moved from Aberdeen to Rapid City, where Norma worked for more than 30 years at First National Bank (later Wells Fargo), and Bill worked 32 years as Sales Manager for Sears. But above all, Bill and Norma were lifelong partners in serving Christ by serving people. Norma taught children in Sunday School for many years, served in a jail ministry for 34 years, and as a volunteer at Rapid City Regional Hospital for 32 years. Bill served as a deacon and elder for many years, and served more than 20 years at the Rapid City Community Food Bank. And together they constantly supported the ministry of the gospel, and opened their home and hearts to share the love of Christ.Bill and Norma were married more than 65 years until her passing in 2015. Bill was preceded in death as well by a brother, Ted, and by sisters, Mime, Edna, and Thelma. He is survived by a sister, Eunice Neuharth, Bismarck, ND; as well as nieces and nephews. Above all, like his beloved Norma, Bill leaves a legacy of faith, hope, and love.
