Obituary For William F. 'Bill' Etzler
William Francis ‘Bill’ Etzler, 98, Rapid City, passed away Tuesday July 20, 2010 at Golden Livingcenter Prairie Hills. He was born July 25, 1911 in Stroll, SD to Mike and Mary (Michalec) Etzler. When he was six weeks old his family moved to Lincoln, MN, where they farmed. He married Margaret ‘Kitty’ Meeds on Dec. 28, 1936 in Motley, MN. They farmed until moving to Rapid City in 1946. William worked for C.H. Lien for many years and for the Pennington County Highway Department for 22 years before retiring in 1976. He was very active in the Flea Markets and loved rummage sales. William is preceded in death by his wife Margaret, his daughter Georgia Opitz and 4 sisters. He is survived by 2 daughters, Marjorie Berman, Green Valley, AZ; Leitha (John) Kammerer, Rapid City; 6 grandchildren, Sandra Torok, Aurora, CO; Sherri Liston, Helena, MT; Jeffrey Webb, Centennial, CO; Mitch Kammerer, Wall; Greg and Steve Sirmons, Tucson, AZ; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great-granddaughter and also her sister, Delores Rice, Elk Grove, CA.
