Obituary For Wilma Hartford
Wilma L. Hartford, 89, Rapid City, passed away Monday February 27th, 2017 at West Hills Health Care. Wilma was born in St. Louis, MO on February 2, 1928. As a baby she was adopted by Obey and Pearl Steed and at an early age moved to Anthony, KS. She attended school in Kansas and Oklahoma. Wilma then worked for Continental Bakeries in Oklahoma. Shortly after, she moved back to Kansas to care for her aging parents. Following the death of her father she joined the Air Force and while stationed at Charleston, SC she met and married the love of her life, Bob. They were assigned to many bases both abroad and stateside. To this union their daughter Lori was born. Upon retiring from the Air Force they returned to Fremont, NE which is where the couple always called home. Wilma made many friends with whom she played golf and cards at the F.G.C. along with being active in the American Legion Auxiliary. After their retirement they moved to Rapid City, SD to be near Lori and her family. Wilma is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Lori (John) Schaefbauer and her grandchildren A.J. and Bobbi Schaefbauer.
